FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here We Stand Student Site

What is the Here We Stand Student Site?
A: This is a Web site just for Here We Stand students. Overwhelmingly requested by Here We Stand members, the site features youth-driven content that connects directly to the lessons of Here We Stand, along with a humorous, yet serious approach to other sorts of material — like The Lutheran Handbooks.

How will my students be able to access the student site?
A: After your congregation signs up for the Here We Stand Student Site, you'll be able to give your students their own username and password. These passwords, like those for leaders, will need to be managed by the Here We Stand Administrator in each congregation.
How is the Here We Stand Student Site sold?
A: The student site is sold separately from regular Here We Stand memberships. Like the Here We Stand Leader Site, the student site is sold as annual membership with prices based on Average Weekly Worship Attendance (AWWA).

The Lutheran Handbooks

What are The Lutheran Handbooks?
A: The Lutheran Handbooks are innovative learner resources for Here We Stand. Witty, ironic, and a little irreverent—just like teens—these handbooks take a humorous approach to confirmation learning. The Lutheran Handbook is the core learner resource and includes Luther's Small Catechism. The Lutheran Handbook II is the companion learner resource for Unit 4: Lutheran Theology and Doctrine.
Are The Lutheran Handbooks included with a Here We Stand membership?
A: The Lutheran Handbooks are sold separately from your Here We Stand membership.

Product Updates

Will new material be added to the program in the future?
A: Definitely. Although the binders will stay the same, the online content will grow and be refreshed over time. We’ve already added new units, new lessons, PowerPoints and video clips. That's the benefit of a program with a strong online component like Here We Stand. With your help and feedback, we will continuously develop and refine Here We Stand.

Membership

Will I be reminded that my membership ends?
A: You will be notified by email approximately one month and again two weeks before your membership ends. That's just another reason to keep your email and contact information up-to-date with us.

How do I calculate my membership rate if I share my confirmation program with another congregation?
A: Here We Stand membership rates are based on the Average Worship Attendance of your congregation. If you're sharing your program with another congregation, you need to add your partner congregation(s) Average Worship Attendance to yours to get a new total. For example, if your congregation's Average Worship Attendance is 275 and the other congregation's is 325, you need to use 600 to determine your correct membership rate.

Will my congregation be able to receive multiple usernames and passwords for leaders?
A: Yes, each congregation will be able to use up to ten usernames and passwords.
How do I renew my membership?
A: Renewal is automatic for Here We Stand members. You don't need to do anything.

What if I don't want to renew my Here We Stand membership?
A: All you need to do is contact us before your membership ends.

Why should I renew my membership after I have received all the material in the first year?
A: First, because your membership covers the use of the material for a period of one year from the day you subscribe — so, legally, you can't use the material after that unless you re-subscribe. Second, this product will be continually evolving on the Web, based on your input and ideas. Each time you visit the site, you'll have the opportunity to pick up information that wasn't there before, talk to your colleagues, or update your own calendar. You will have access to new content every year through the Web.

How can I share questions and ideas with Augsburg Fortress and with my colleagues?
A: Click on the Community tab and join a conversation, start a conversation, or submit an example of something you do that you'd like to share with others.

Winking Luther

Who is Winking Luther?
A: Good question. You might say that Winking Luther is the "face" of The Lutheran Handbooks. Simultaneously silly and serious, humorous and substantial, Winking Luther and The Lutheran Handbooks remind us that good Lutheran theology can have a sense of humor. And better yet, kids (and adults) like it.

Technical Issues

When I click certain buttons or links, nothing happens. Why?
A: If some parts of the site don't appear to work (for instance, if you click on a button and nothing happens) it may be due to your web browser's configurations for JavaScript, cookies, or pop-up blocking software. Please see our JavaScript, Cookies, and Pop-ups page for more information about these features of your web browser, and instructions for changing your settings to work with this site.
Help! I can't open some of the PowerPoint files in PowerPoint 2003!
A: Some PowerPoint files may not open correctly in PowerPoint 2003. This is due to a bug in PowerPoint, which Microsoft has fixed with a free software update. If you are having problems with these files, please visit the Microsoft Office Update site to download the update.
